Try a small step toward better chess.
About 10 minutes today, then three new positions after 24 hours. Free, untimed and voluntary.
Is this a useful starting point for you?
This trial is for adult learners who know how the pieces move and sometimes lose a piece to an unexpected capture. We are testing how clear and useful the coaching feels. We do not yet know whether this program improves playing strength.

Your first visit
- On Today, open Keep your pieces safe. Try the three starting positions on your own. It is fine to get something wrong or use the hint.
- Follow the three guided practice positions. Take as much time as you need; pause or stop whenever you want.
- Open Progress and expand Review and download my learning report. You can answer the optional questions and inspect the report before downloading it.
If someone is observing, ask them to let you explore first. In the feedback, record any notes, person or tool you used during a check.
Come back after a day
The next-day check opens 24 hours after you finish guided practice. Use the same browser, or your connected account with progress saved. Try the three new positions before rereading the coaching, then download an updated report in Progress.
If you already completed this program, keep your original results. Repeating familiar positions would not give us a fresh starting check.
You decide what to share
No account, name or email is required to practice. The optional learning report contains exercise results, a report date and your selected feedback answers. It excludes account details, imported games, notes and your private reflection. Feedback answers stay in the form until you download them; leaving the page clears them.
Downloading does not submit the report to Steady Chess. If a tester or coach invited you, you can choose to share the report with them. Keep your complete workspace backup private; it contains much more of your information.
Email support@steadychess.com for help, feedback, or privacy questions. Include the section you were using and what happened. Please leave passwords and private information out of your message.
What happens next?
A few trials can uncover confusing instructions, board problems and missing next steps. Evidence of better play needs later games and a larger evaluation. Your check score will not be presented as a proven Elo gain.
